About Us

Hock Peng started as a furniture maker in Sibu Town in the 1960s. With experience gained, its business expanded to subcontracting carpentry and joinery work for the building contractors.

Today, Hock Peng is a diversified group of companies specialising in property development, construction, hotel, retail, service station, trading, coal mining, marine dredging and land reclamation work.

Hock Peng Realty Sdn Bhd is a property developer and a CIDB Registered Grade G7 Contractor. With its proven track record and sound management, Hock Peng was able to joint venture with the State Government’s Statutory Bodies and Local Authorities to develop and successfully completed numerous development and commercial projects.

entrusted by the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) for the design, construction and completion of their 12-storey headquarters building -WISMA SALCRA . Completed in 2010, 6 months ahead of schedule

2008

completed the turnkey design, construction and completion of the 200-room, 5-storey Kingwood Hotel in Mukah within 7 months ;

2003

entrusted by the State Government and LCDA for the design, construction and completion of Government Staff Quarters for the new Mukah Division in 2003 and for the new Betong Division in 2006. Total no. of housing units completed = 700+ units ;

2001

completed the design, construction and completion of the Balingian Mosque and associated works within 55 days in 2001 ;

entrusted by the Sarawak State Government for the turnkey design, construction and completion of the SRI SAUJANA – Government’s VIP Rest House on Pulau Li Hua, Sibu and completed same within 73 days in time for the late AGONG’s visit to Sibu for the closing ceremony of Hari Kebangsaan celebration ;

1997

registered as Class A contractor with PKK in 1997, with UPK Sarawak in 1998 and as Grade G7 contractor with CIDB in 1998 ;

1995

established Kuching Branch office, joint venture with international construction company to undertake the RM124.2 million “ Sungai Sarawak Regulation Scheme” project, a major engineering project in Sarawak ;

1992

started the ambitious Pulau Li Hua project, a 250 acres reclaimed island for exclusive residential and commercial development and marked Hock Peng’s first foray into dredging and land reclamation businesses ;

established Mukah Branch Office, undertaken the Mukah New Township Extension project comprising 107 units of 3-storey shophouses and associated works

registered with JKR Sarawak as Class A-A-A contractor ;

ventured into hotel businesses, built and operate the 10-storey Li Hua Hotel in Sibu in 1981, the 10-storey Li Hua Hotel in Bintulu in 1984, the tallest in Bintulu then ;

  • Hock Peng Realty S/B was incorporated. This marked the corporate beginning of Hock Peng Organisation.

Registration

Hock Peng’s core businesses include land reclamation work, dredging, civil engineering and building construction. The company is registered with UPK Sarawak Class A, PKK Malaysia Class A and CIDB Grade G7. It is also an approved building and civil work contractor for Sarawak Shell Bhd as well as Bintulu Development Authority, Sarawak. The company also owns a reliable fleet of dredging, other heavy equipment and a team of experienced technical personnel who are fully committed to marine dredging and land reclamation, civil engineering & building construction work.

Hock Peng is ISO 9001 Quality Management System certified for provision of design management, building and civil engineering works; dredging and land reclamation works. Our property development projects are assessed using CIDB Malaysia Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC).

Hock Peng now has two hotel chains namely Li Hua Hotel and Medan Hotel. Besides that, Hock Peng has also ventured into retail business under the chain name Medan Departmental Store & Supermarket.
